You know what the second I stopped saying “I wish I had a friend who-“ and started being “the friend who-“ my life has gotten 100% more fulfilling

No legitimately. I have a tea table in my room for when friends can come over again. Most of my friends have a key to the back door in my room. I make my friends sweaters and buy things they mention they want. I send handwritten letters in the mail to my friend who lives a block away. I annotate poetry books and give them as gifts when it’s not even a holiday. I keep extra gloves in my purse and jackets in my car.

I’m not trying to be like “ohoho look at me I’m such a good friend”, I’m saying the second I stopped going “I wish I had friends who would invite me to tea parties” and just. hosted the tea parties myself? I still got to do the thing. I still got to see my friends. I still got to be happy with them.

I don’t think it’s about who does it, I think it’s just the genuine act of caring for people, and giving a little light to the environments you’re in.

Okay. Apparently I’m not done talking about this.

It’s a lot of energy, I get that. Especially if you’re putting in all this effort, but not getting any back.

But I think that’s the reason no one does it. I mean we’re so worried we’ll start doing all these things and our friends won’t like it or won’t be into it, so we just don’t.

Only last week my friend messaged me, asking if I wanted to go stargazing with her. When I forget about our weekly virtual tea party, another friend called me to ask if I wanted them to host it this week.

I’ve been invited on hikes and picnics and pie making competitions over zoom, and it all sort of started with me going out of my way to be “that friend”.

I genuinely believe that the easiest answer to “how do I get friends like that?” Is to be one. In most cases, everyone else just follows by example, because they aren’t worried they’ll be wasting time and energy anymore.

History: The Minoan civilization had a rapid decline following the eruption of a volcanic island close to Crete where they had settled. The eruption was so large its effects were felt all the way in China.

Me: Oh yeah. The Mediterranean had a lot of problems with volcanoes every few thousand years or so. So why was this one special?

What the island looks like today:

Ye.

They had several extremely advanced items for the time period (3000 BC to c. 1100 BC) which other civilizations had not developed yet for thousands of years (such as a working plumbing system). They had a writing system we have no idea how to read as no writing system evolved from it and it’s not related to any of the other writing systems we do understand (ancient Greek, Ancient Egyptian etc etc)

They had a extremely peaceful nation from what we can gather, as none of their art showed soldiers or military until near the end of their civilization, and instead showed scenes of agriculture, games, every day life and things along those lines instead.

“tiddies out” civilization as I like to call it due to the common dress of the women as shown in almost all art.

I heard somewhere that they were possibly a Matriarchal society but I need to do research on that as I’m not entirely comfortable with declaring that as possibly true just because I heard 1 person talk about it. I want to see some sources first.

But yeah. Many people believe the Minoans were the basis for the Atlantis story.

Plato wrote the story of Atlantis in 360 BC and based his Dialogues are supposedly quoting Solon who went to Egyp between 580BC and 590BC and Solon said he got the information about Atlantis from the Egyptian Records.

The Minoan Civilization, like I said, was between 3000 BC to c. 1100 BC. So by the time Plato wrote his dialogue on Atlantis, which is our only Primary source, the Minoan civilization was something that had died more than a thousand years ago. Meaning this was ancient history to the people of ancient history.

This is the young woman who started a petition and made sure her voices was heard when it came to representation in Animal Crossing.

She in turn made so many of our voices heard too. I reposted that first post on my IG and just sent some general love and she saw it and sent a thank reply to me!

I found her page and found out just how long she was at this and that there was a petition I had no idea about! She even was selling shirts to get the word out there.

How about we continue to stand behind her! Here is the link to her Etsy shop, let’s support small businesses that also are about change this holiday season!!
